It will be observed that there was a decrease in the number of cases
notified in 1930. The percentage of removals to the L.C.C. Hospitals
Was high, and the case mortality rate was higher than that for 1929.
Information was received from the L.C.C. that 9 of the cases sent
to Hospital in the course of the year proved not to be suffering from
diphtheria.
Of the 118 cases notified, 44 occurred in Stanley Ward, 20 in Church
^Vard, 36 in Cheyne Ward, 10 in Hans Town Ward, and 8 in Royal
hospital Ward.
The following table shows the average annual case rate, case mortality
ra-te, and percentage of cases removed to hospital in each of the quinquennial
periods since 1911.
