Report on the sanitary condition of the Limehouse District (comprising the Parishes of Limehouse, Shadwell, and Wapping, and the Hamlet of Ratcliff) for the year 1899

The total number of articles analysed during the year was
147; of which 144 were submitted by the Board's Inspectors and
3 by the Ratcliff Workhouse. This number consisted of go
milks, 16 butters, 8 coffees, 8 mustards, 7 peppers, 2 gins, 1
whisky, 2 porters, 5 breads, 3 flours, 4 oatmeals, and 1 cocoa.
Of these, 71 milks, 14 butters, 6 coffees, the mustards,
peppers, gins, whisky, porters, breads, flours, oatmeals and cocoa were genuine.

40 milks were taken on Sundays, and these were more adulterated than the others.
