Contravention of London County Council Bye-Laws.
During the year there was but one case for proceedings,
viz.:—Failing to give notice and not carrying out work as
specified.
The offender completed the necessary work and tendered an
apology, he paying the costs of summons and Solicitor's fee.
Food and Drugs and Margarine Acts, 1875, 1879 and 1887.
"We respectfully beg to lay before you a brief statement of facts
concerning the working of above Acts.
We find that adulteration of various food stuffs are slightly
below other years, thus showing that constant application of the
Acts tend to decrease the fraud.
During the year 258 samples of various foods were collected
and submitted to the Analyst, the results of such analyses
showing there was an increase of adulteration in the milks.
We reported last year that certain milk vendors were in the
habit of declaring milk sold to inspectors was " milk and water."
This statement is not now made, but still the practice of watering
goes on. A great difficulty exists in this Parish ; owing to its
small area and the number of shops being limited, our assistants
become readily known.
We are, Sir,
Yours obediently,
R. ADAMS,
H. E. COX,
G. E. J. DAVIS.
