Increase of Rent and Mortgage Interest Restrictions Act,
1920-1923.—During the year forty-one applications were
received for certificates under the above Act. In thirty-four
cases the certificates were granted, five applications were
refused, and two held over on request of applicant.
Nine certificates were granted to owners who had carried
out the work specified satisfactorily, one being refused.
Rag Flock Act, 1911.—The Rag Fi.ock Regulations,
1912.—No action was taken under these regulations during
(he year under review.
Public Mortuary.—During the year 348 bodies were
removed to the Mortuary in Fulham Palace Road. There
were 250 brought to the Mortuary by order of the Coroner,
and 98 were received for accommodation and convenience of
burial.
HOUSING.
Housing and Town Planning.—During the year the
housing conditions have not materially improved. The
Housing Schemes of the County Council and Borough Council
are in progress but no further action has been taken with
regard to the Southern Housing Scheme.
Eighty-two Certificates were granted during the year,
under Section 48 (2) of the Public Health (London) Act,
1S91, with regard to newly erected houses having a proper
and sufficient water supply; 42 on the housing estate of the
Borough Council, and 40 in other parts of the Borough.
I regret it is necessary for me to refer to the great amount
of overcrowding which exists throughout the Borough.
Since the War, 1,388 houses have been erected in the
Borough, by the London County Council, the Hammersmith
Borough Council and by private enterprise, for which Certificates
have been granted (details as under).
