sideration of the Asylums Board whether provision should
not be made for an increased number at Carshalton; and
whether provision should not also be made for the reception
of scarlet fever and diphtheria convalescents at the site of the
proposed small-pox hospital, near the hospital ships at Long
Reach, when it is not needed for small-pox. There is reason
to hope that the Hospital Ships will suffice, for some

small-pox having been in abeyance, and no cases having
been under treatment for many months. As regards
enteric fever, all applications for the removal of cases were
complied with throughout the year, the Asylums Board
having an arrangement with certain general hospitals for the
admittance of cases for which they themselves are unable to
provide accommodation.
