An interesting feature is the diminution in the number of attendances during the past few years, as the following figures will indicate:—

Year.No. of Children Cleansed.
19201,508
19211,396
1922957
1923868
1924712

This would seem to suggest that the co-operation of the School
Medical Service and the following up work performed by officers of
this Department has had the desired effect.
Fifteen adults suffering from vermin were also given cleansing
baths. In every case the infested clothing was disinfected.
Public Sanitary Conveniences.—There are at present
3 underground sanitary conveniences in the Borough, situated at—
Blackwall Lane, East Greenwich.
South Street, West Greenwich, and
Creek Road, St. Nicholas, Deptford.
Tenders were invited for the erection of an additional underground
convenience situate at the foot of Blackheath Hill. Only
one Tender, however, was received. This was probably due to the
fact that no quantities were furnished. Instructions were therefore
given for quantities to be prepared and for the work to be readvertised.
Six Tenders were received in response to the advertisements,
but having regard to the amounts of such tenders it was
decided to accept the Borough Engineer's Estimate to carry out the
work by direct labour for the sum of £2,500.
SECTION 8.
PUBLIC HEALTH STAFF.
The only change in the personnel of the Staff was the appointment
in October of Mr. L. A. Westacott in place of Mr. W. H.
Collins who was transferred the Town Clerk's Department.
Medical Officer of Health and Administrative Medical Officer,
Tuberculosis, and Maternity and Child Welfare—
*Ernest G. Annis, M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., D.P.H. (Barrister-at-Law).
