Epidemic Cerebro-Spinal Meningitis, Cerebro-Spinal
Fever, or Post-Basal Meningitis.—There were 2 cases of this
disease notified during the year, both of which occurred in West
Greenwich. One case which was sent to Hospital for treatment
was subsequently discharged as not suffering from the disease.
Acute Polio-Myelitis or Acute Polio-Encephalitis.—
There was 1 case notified during the year, as compared with 4
cases in 1923, and 0 in 1922.
Ophthalmia Neonatorum.—During the year 5 cases of this
disease have been notified, 2 being in East Greenwich, 1 in West
Greenwich, and 2 in Charlton.

Malaria.—There were 8 cases of Malaria notified during the
year, 1 occurring in East Greenwich, and 3 in West Greenwich, and
4 in St. Nicholas, compared with 2 last year.
Encephalitis Lethargica. There were 12 notifications of
cases of this disease. Five of these cases occurred in the eastern
part of the Borough, 2 in the western, 2 in Charlton, 2 in Kidbrooke,
and 1 in St. Nicholas, Deptford. Of the total number of cases 6
occurred in May, 3 in June, and 1 each in April, July and September,
the ages of the patients being 5, 14 years and under, 2 from 14
to 20 years, 2 from 20 to 30 years, 2 from 30 to 40 years, and 1 aged
61 years. Full enquiries were made in connection with every case,
but in no case did there appear to have been any trace of infection
from one patient to another. In some of the cases the diagnosis
of the illness was not definitely established. There were 2 deaths
and amongst the other cases up to the present only one case, that of
a boy aged 5 years, has not fully recovered.
Glanders.—No case of Glanders has occurred within the
Borough.
Anthrax and Hydrophobia.—No notification of any case of
these diseases in man has been received during the year.
Tuberculosis.—During the year there were 273 cases of
Tuberculosis notified in the Borough, 214 being pulmonary cases,
ordinarily known as Consumption, and 59 non-pulmonary, being
Tuberculosis affecting other portions of the body than the lungs.
Of this number of cases, 89 pulmonary and 17 non-pulmonary,
occurred in East Greenwich, 54 pulmonary and 25 non-pulmonary
