It is my privilege again to express my appreciation of the
kindness and consideration which has always been shown to me
by the members of the Public Health and Maternity and Child
Welfare Committees, and the whole of the members of the Council.
I also have to acknowledge gratefully the increased assistance which
has been given me on the clerical side, which, coupled' with adequate
office accommodation, has served to place the administration
of the department on a thoroughly well organised basis. I have
only to add that the whole of the staff have carried out their
duties in a particularly enthusiastic and satisfactory manner.
I am, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
E. G. Annis.
VITAL AND MORTAL STATISTICS, 1921.

The decennial census was taken in June, 1021, when it was
found that the population in the Borough of Greenwich stood at

figure shows an advance of nearly 5,000 over the 1911 Census figure,
w hich in turn was practicallv the same as the Census figure of 1901.

The distribution of the population throughout the Borough is as follows:—
