In North Paddington 2,558 births were registered
(1,294 of boys and 1,264 of girls) equivalent to a
rate of 27.14 per 1,000 inhabitants of the district,
1.02 below the rate for the preceding six years (28.16),
and 1.46 below the decennial mean (28.60). In
South Paddington there were 407 births (219 of boys
and 188 of girls), the rate being 12.17, as compared
with a mean rate of 13.43 (a decrease of 1.26) for the
preceding six years and a decennial mean of 13.83 (a
decrease of 1.66).
