Paddington the total for the year was 367, as
compared with an annual average for the preceding
ten years of 437, showing a reduction of 70, and
the rate for the year (10.97) was 1.76 below the
mean (12.73). (See Table 13.) In England and
Wales the death-rate was 17.6 per 1,000, or 0.8
below the decennial mean, and in London 18.7,
or 1.0 below the mean.
