Only two cases of cholera have been reported in
Paddington since the commencement of notification,
both cases being of the English variety. In the
Metropolis the 23 cases reported were 15 fewer than
the total for 1897, the majority of cases being most
probably English cholera.

The total of 258 cases was 64 below the total for
1897, and 124 below that for 1894, when the maximum
of the nine years, 1890-98, was recorded. In
North Paddington 228 cases were recorded, being 8
fewer than the corrected average, and in South
