[Report on the health of the Borough of Bethnal Green during the year 1925]

These proceedings involved 19 summonses, all of which
were successful, fines and costs amounting to a total of
£23 18s. being imposed. In one case, the presiding
magistrate being doubtful whether a basket from which
a trader was selling meat came within the regulations
adjourned the case to enable the Council to obtain
further legal opinion in the matter. At the adjourned
hearing of the case the Defendant was discharged under
the Probation of Offenders Act, which is tantamount to
a conviction.
The regulations have involved a considerable
amount of additional slaughterhouse supervision and
inspection of carcases. During the nine months they
have been in operation Mr. Inspector Henley reports
that he has inspected the following carcases, with their
offal:—

Sheep 273
Lambs 212
Pigs 558
Total 1,127
The following parts of carcases or offal, were
condemned and destroyed for various reasons:—
