SLAUGHTERERS OF POULTRY.
There are 8 slaughterhouses for poultry in use,
all of them situated in the west ward of the Borough:
77 visits were paid to them during the year. There
are also 5 premises on which poultry are kept prior
to slaughter, and to which the by-laws would apply.
Premises on which slaughtering of poultry is
carried on:—
147, 151, 159 and 267, Brick Lane, 107, Bethnal
Green Road, 80, Virginia Road, 71, Church Street
and 36, Hare Street.
UNSOUND FOOD.
The Food Inspector has kept under regular inspection
food exposed or deposited for sale in
slaughterhouses, shops (especially butchers', cooked
meat and fishmongers' shops), stalls and market places.
PUBLIC HEALTH MEAT REGULATIONS, 1924.
These regulations came into force on the 1st
April, 1925. Prior to this date the working of the
regulations had been fully explained to the local meat
traders, both at a meeting at the Town Hall, called
by their local association in February, and individually
to many meat traders, each of whom was furnished
with a copy of the regulations by Mr. Henley, Inspector
of Meat and other Foods, who has been charged with
the administration of the regulations. This preparatory
explanation has proved beneficial, because
in the main the regulations have worked smoothly.
It has been necessary to take proceedings against a
few meat stall keepers for repeated breaches of the
regulations, principally for failure to provide proper
covering at the back of the stall and to have the name
and address of the stall keeper inscribed on the stall.
