REGULATIONS, 1912 AND 1917.
The following is a report of the work done under
these Regulations :—
Three hundred and fifty-four formal samples and
one informal sample of milk were taken, and in no
case was the presence of a preservative reported.
Three samples of preserved cream were taken,
all of which proved to be genuine, and in each case
the receptacle containing the cream was labelled in
accordance with the Regulations.
Of two samples of cream which were taken, one
was found to contain 0.24 per cent. of boric acid, the
receptacle in which it was delivered to the purchaser
being unlabelled.
"APPEAL TO COW" SAMPLES.
Arising out of a prosecution in respect of a sample
of milk which was found to be 18 per cent. deficient in
fat, certain samples of milk were, at the request of the
owner, taken direct from the cows at the shed.
