" The progress of the children has on the whole been
satisfactory, but it is impossible at present to formulate any
statistics of results. I aim at seeing all children every one or
two weeks, and the attendances have, I think, been good.
Full records are kept of all cases. I have received wholehearted
co-operation from the Lady Superintendent and
Health Visitors, and without their constant help it would have
been impossible to achieve the very good results obtained
in many cases."

MASSAGE.
The arrangement made in 1924 with the Bethnal
Green branch of the British Red Cross Society for the
services of trained masseuses at the Centre came to an
end at the beginning of 1925, when the Council made
direct arrangements with two of the masseuses. The
masseuses were in attendance on two or three afternoons
a week. The number of sessions held was 173,
the number of children who received massage was 111
and they made 1,548 attendances. The children were
referred to the massage room by the doctors attending
the consultations, and a record was kept of the condition
of each child at the beginning of the treatment
and during its course.
Every endeavour was made to teach the mothers
to carry out simple massage at home in order to
supplement the attendance at the Centre, which had
to be perforce restricted to once or twice a week.
The conditions for which the children were referred
were
Rickets 25
Muscular Atony 71
Constipation 2
Paralysis 3
Old Fractures 1
Talipes 3
Knock-knee 5
Muscular weakness after Enceph.
