MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE
CENTRES.
The popularity of the Council's new Centre in
Cornwall Road was maintained during the year. The
extra room on the first floor was completed toward
the end of the year. In connection with this improvement,
the two rooms underneath the new room had
additional windows built in the outside wall.
As it was found that during mild weather it was
neither convenient nor economical to use the central
heating supplied from the Public Library, means of
supplementary heating was installed in the basement
of the Centre. During very cold weather this will
also be useful in ensuring a proper degree of warmth
throughout the Centre.
Electric lighting has been provided in certain
additional rooms in the basement.
The auxiliary Centre at Thornton Hall, Mount
Street, was in use on Monday afternoons throughout
the year.
