Of the total number of cases interviewed during the
year 79 were referred to the National Assistance Board
for the first time. In some cases they were able to
give additional monies for clothing, bedding and hirepurchase
payments.
The occupational therapy class which meets each
Friday afternoon is a means of giving happy hours of
occupation and diversion to those not yet fit for work.
In addition to the usual types of handicrafts dressmaking
has been very successful. At the close of the year the
number on the Roll was 19. The work is of a high standard
and the goods were readily sold.
During October it was necessary to vacate the
premises at No.23 Brunswick Park owing to conversion work
being undertaken by the Camberwell Borough Council. The
Committee were very pleased to receive the assistance of
Cambridge House, who kindly invited us to use their
premises as temporary accommodation on a small rental for
the therapy class. It is understood that the Camberwell
Borough Council will permit us to re-use the improved
accommodation at 23 Brunswick Park when completed in the
New Year.
The Committee arranged the usual summer and winter
social events for students in the therapy class. During
July they had a day's outing to Brighton and early in
December a visit to a theatre followed by supper in town.
