Social Conditions of the Area.
There are a number of factory premises in the Borough
engaging in such industries as engineering, printing, mineral water
manufacture, and potted meats, pickles and other food preparations.
The largest industrial undertaking in the Borough, however, is the
South Metropolitan Gas Co.'s works at Old Kent Road, which
provides employment for a considerable number of the inhabitants
in the northern part of Camberwell.

The following particulars relating to unemployment in Camberwell have been provided through the courtesy of the Divisional Manager of the Ministry of Labour.
