The redevelopment of the Neate Street clearance area scheme is still the
subject of consideration by the London County Council. That authority has,
however, notified the Council that they are prepared to convey part of this area
north of Neate Street to the Council. The Public Health Committee at their
meeting on June 4th, 1937, decided that they were disposed to recommend the
Council to agree to the London County Council's offer but asked for an estimate of
the cost to be furnished which is not yet to hand.
I am not in possession of any information relating to the present position
concerning the Sandgate Street areas.
It might also be of interest to furnish the following contemporary activities
of the London County Council in Camberwell, excluding development schemes,
so that a complete picture may be presented of the slum clearance operations in
the area from the beginning of 1934.
