Report on the sanitary condition of the Borough of Bermondsey for the year 1948

NURSING, EXTRA NOURISHMENT AND SHELTERS.
During the period Ist January to 4th July, 1948, the District
Nurses paid 998 visits to patients suffering from Tuberculosis and
being treated at home; extra nourishment in the form of milk was
supplied to 62 patients, and one shelter was in use.

The number of applications for allowances under this scheme
considered during the period Ist January to 4th July, 1948, was 264;
of this number 31 were new cases and 233 were for renewal of grant
or alteration of assessment owing to changed circumstances. The
number of applicants who received allowances was 79.
