BIRTHS.
The total number of births belonging to the borough registered
during 1948 was 1,218 consisting of 615 males and 603 females. The
number for 1947 was 1,531. The birth-rate for 1948 was 20·2 per
thousand persons living, compared with 25·9 for 1947.
