MEASLES.
Measles caused 155 deaths, as against 325 registered in 1898,
and compared with a corrected average of 216 during the years
1885-98.
The death-rate was 0.44 per 1,000 inhabitants, as against an
average rate of o.65 in the years 1885-98. It is higher than that
which generally obtained in the country, although it has been
exceeded in some of the largest towns.
