The figures are equal to a death rate of l oo (1*22 pulmonary, 0.33 nonpulmonary)
per 1,000 (civil) population. The present sex constitution of the
population is too uncertain to give precise rates for males and females, but it
is evident that the incidence and mortality rates are greater amongst males
than females. This difference, however, is less than was the case in recent
years.
In regard to age incidence, 73 per cent. of the deaths and 71 per cent. of
the notifications were of persons aged from 15 to 55 years, so far as concerns
pulmonary tuberculosis, while in regard to other forms of tuberculosis, 62 per
cent, of the deaths and 68 per cent. of the new cases notified were of children
aged 15 years or under.
