There were three seizures during the year. These related to
33½ cwt. of mussels. These were delivered direct into the district

however, did not justify proceedings.
On 120 occasions unsound food was surrendered. Included
in the food surrendered were 10,380 lbs. of dates; 7,573 lbs. of
beef; 3,690 lbs. of bacon; 9 boxes, 7 barrels, 5 bags, and 36 cwt.
of fish, and smaller quantities of cheese, rabbits, calves' livers, ox
livers, butter and condensed milk. The number of carcasses or
parts of carcasses condemned on account of tuberculosis was 13.
On one inspection of the market place in Beresford Square
your inspector was obstructed. Legal proceedings followed, and
the stall-holder was fined.
