HOUSES INSPECTED AND INQUIRIES MADE IN
CONNECTION WITH INFECTIOUS DISEASE.
Number of Houses Inspected and Inquiries made by Infectious
Disease Inspector 665
Number of Re-visits 1,873
The Health Visitors also visited 1,301 cases, and re-visited
when required.
The following books belonging to the Libraries, etc., were
destroyed in consequence of Infectious Disease :—
Central Libraries, 85 ; School Libraries, 6 ; Total, 91.
CLEANSING STATION, BLACKWALL LANE.
The arrangements made with the London County Council for
reserving the use of the Council's Cleansing Station on Mondays
and Thursday for the cleansing of verminous school children
continue in operation.
The following table shows the number of children cleansed
during the year :—

Total 868
Nine adults suffering from vermin were also given cleansing
baths. In every case the infested clothing was disinfected.
Public Sanitary Conveniences.—During the year the
Council had under consideration the question of providing additional
sanitary accommodation for both sexes. There are at present
3 underground sanitary conveniences in the Borough, situated at:—
Blackwall Lane, East Greenwich,
South Street, West Greenwich, and
Creek Road, St. Nicholas, Deptford.
A Sub-Committee was appointed to view and select suitable
sites and, after due consideration, the Council decided to proceed
with the construction of 3 additional underground conveniences,
one of which would be erected in place of the urinal at present
