Hospitals Provided or Subsidised by Local Authority.
(1) Tuberculosis.—Sanatoria provided by London County
Council.
(2) Maternity.—Maternity Home, 78, Shooters Hill Road,
Blackheath, S.E.3, provided by the Council. Accommodation
comprises :—
(1) Receiving Ward.
(2) General Ward with 10 beds.
(3) Small Ward with 2 beds.
(4) Single Ward with 1 bed.
(5) Isolation Ward.
(6) Labour Ward.
(7) Medical Officers' Room, Laundry, etc., together with
residential accommodation for Matron, Nurses,
Probationers and Domestic Staff.
(3) Children.—None provided by Council but arrangements
made with Deptford Fund for Greenwich Children and Grant made
by the Council for this purpose.
(4) Fever and (5) Small Pox.—Cases of infectious Disease are
treated at the Hospitals of the Metropolitan Asylums Board
whose Brook Hospital is situate at Shooters Hill Road, Blackheath.
(For the last six months this Hospital has been closed.)
Institutional Provision for Unmarried Mothers,
Illegitimate Infants, and Homeless Children.
No provision is made by the Council, but Dr. Barnado's
Homes National Incorporated Association have Finchley Lodge,
St. John's Park, Blackheath, used for this and similar purposes.
Ambulance Facilities.
(a) Patients suffering from Infectious Diseases are
veyed to Hospital by the ambulances of the Metropolitan
Asylums Board.
(b) For Non-Infectious and Accident cases. No provision
by the Council. Facilities afforded by the ambulances
of the Metropolitan Asylums Board, London
County Council and certain local Hospitals.
