Infectious Diseases of Mothers and Children Under Five Years of Age. Statistics showing the incidence of all infectious diseases during the year are included in the general report, but in so far as they relate particularly to diseases of parturient women and children under five years of age, are tabulated below:—

available are those of deaths which were registered as having been
due to this cause.

Ophthalmia Neonatorum.—The number of cases reported
was 35, against 44 in the previous year. The analysis of the
final reports received is as follows: —
Eyes satisfactory 31
Infants died (1 from Diphtheria) 2
Parents removed from District 1
Under specialist, no injury to sight 1
Total 35
All notified cases of diseases of parturient women and
children under five years of age are visited immediately, and
arrangements made for the attendance of a nurse where
required.
