The functions of the Insurance Committee as regards the provision
of treatment for insured persons have been transferred to
the London County Council both in respect to the dispensaries
and the provision of sanatorium treatment, so that the London
County Council are entirely responsible for the provision of
sanatorium treatment and partly responsible for the provision of
dispensary treatment, although the direct responsibility for providing
the dispensaries is laid upon the Borough Council. The
Council has entered, as previously reported, into contracts for the
provision of treatment for tuberculosis with the Metropolitan and
City of London Hospitals; the Boroughs of Bethnal Green and
Stoke Newington also contracting with these institutions for the
part use of the dispensary services.
The Scheme for carrying out Dispensary Treatment and
After-care was thrust ready-made upon the Borough Council, so
that the following authorities are now interested in the Dispensary
treatment of Tuberculosis in Hackney:—
Hackney Borough. Council,
Stoke Newington Borough Council,
Bethnal Green Borough Council,
Ministry of Health,
London County Council,
Metropolitan Hospital Management Committee,
Victoria Park Hospital Management Committee.
