It will be noticed that the birth-rate is abnormally high in
the Central District compared with other Registration Subdistricts.
This is accounted for by reason of 1,084 births occurring
during the year at the Salvation Army Mothers' Hospital, which
Institution is situate in the Central District. Of this number 709
births are transferable to districts outside Hackney.
The following table shows the birth-rates for the Borough
and its Sub-districts during the years 1912-1922 inclusive:—
