Dr. Wilks states that many cases of importance, in her
opinion, would not have been seen by a doctor had the Centre not
existed.
Several cases of syphilis, tuberculosis and malformation were
examined and received treatment. Dr. Wilks states that such
cases and many other were of great interest, but the value of the
Ante-natal Centre as an educational institution is, in her opinion
of greater importance than the individual cases receiving relief;
not by any means that the suffering and loss of life prevented
should be under-estimated, but that the knowledge of mothercraft
and the educational value in general of the information spread
through the Centres is so far reaching that the importance of the
work can hardly be over-estimated.
