DUST REFUSALS AND NO ANSWERS FOR THE
YEAR 1916.
During the year the dustmen met, during their weekly calls,
with an average of 292 " refusals " and an average of 592 " no
answers " per week.
REQUESTS FOR REMOVAL OF HOUSE REFUSE.
Requests for the removal of house refuse were received to the
number of 913 during the year. This increased number was due
to the contractors not being able to carry out a thorough weekly
collection, owing to their difficulty in getting sufficient dustmen,
caused by war conditions.
THE MORTUARY.
The following tables give the number of bodies deposited
in the Mortuary during the year, also the number of inquests held
there, with the causes of death, &c.
