ACTION TAKEN DURING THE YEAR 1916.
The action taken includes disinfection of rooms and the articles
infected by tuberculous patients, inspection of dwellings occupied
by tuberculous persons, and the removal of any condition prejudicial
to health, instruction of patients in measures to prevent the spread
of the disease, and the gratuitous supply of sputum flasks, the
number of these supplied during the year being 208.
TREATMENT—TUBERCULOSIS DISPENSARIES.
A.—Dispensary at Victoria Park Hospital.—During the year
1916 there were 629 new patients examined at the Dispensary,
300 males and 329 females. Of the total 291 were insured and 338
uninsured persons. The result of examination shows 242 to have
pulmonary tuberculosis, 19 non-pulmonary tuberculosis, 29 were
doubtful and 339 not suffering from tuberculosis.
Contact Cases.—There were 249 contact cases examined, of
which 19 were found to be tuberculous, 9 doubtful and 221
non-tuberculous.
