MARRIAGES.
Marriages, 3,370; Marriage Rate, 20.05.—The number of persons
married was 6,740, as contrasted with 6,612 in the preceding year, which is an
increase of 128. The marriage rate was 20.05 per thousand inhabitants, as
comnared with 10.28 in 1919.

BIRTHS.
There were 9,404 births registered, of which 4,778 were boys, and 4,620
girls. Of this number, however, 781 were born of mothers living in Islington,
although they were confined in Lying-in Institutions, and in other homes
situated outside the borough. The annual birth rate was equal to 27.97 per
1,000 of the population, as compared with a mean birth rate of 22.75 in the
preceding ten years- The birth rate was the highest since 1899, when 9,658
births were registered, the birth rate being 28 72.
