Medical Officer of Health
FOR THE YEAR 1920.
Population.—The population of the Borough has been estimated by the
Registrar-General for the calculation of the death rate and birth rate of the
Borough for the year 1920, as follows:—
For the birth rate, 336,190
Do. death rate, 335,907
Similar to last year the death rate population excludes all non-civilian
males, whether serving at home or abroad.
These estimates are based mainly upon the rationing returns of the
Ministry of Food.
The birth rate (and marriage rate) population, on the other hand, is
intended to include all elements of the population contributing to the birth
and marriage rates and consists of the death rate or civilian population plus
all non-civilians enlisted from this borough, whether serving at home or abroad.
