SEPTIC DISEASES.
Of these diseases Erysipelas and Puerperal Septicaemia are the chief.
Erysipelas.—Seven deaths were registered, which is one below the number
in 1917, and 3 less than the average of the ten years 1908-17.
Puerperal Diseases.—These include Puerperal Pyæmia, Septicaemia,
Septic Intoxication and Puerperal Fever, and they caused one death, which is
5 below the return of 1917, and 6 less than the average of the preceding ten
years.
CONSTITUTIONAL DISEASES.
The chief of these diseases are Cancer, Tuberculosis, Rheumatism,
Diabetes, Gout, Gangrene and Purpura. They were collectively responsible
for 1,110 deaths, as contrasted with an average of 1,048 in the preceding ten
years. The death rate represented 3.87 per 1,000, as contrasted with a
decennial average of 3.26
