DISINFECTION.
Disinfection of Rooms.—2,202 rooms were disinfected, as contrasted
with 3,249 in 1914. For this purpose formaldehyde, either in a gaseous form
or in solution, is usually employed, although it is sometimes augmented by
sulphor dioxide, when it is necessary to kill vermin, for which purpose it has
been found most effective.

The Cleansing and Spraying of Rooms.—As many as 2.116 rooms, as contrasted with 2,140 in 1914, were cleansed and sprayed.

Disinfection of Schools and Institutions. Class-rooms in 8 of the
public elementary schools were disinfected as shown in the list given below.
The dormitories of the Receiving Homes, Hornsey Rise, were also disinfected.
The following class-rooms, etc., were disinfected after the occurrence of
cases of the diseases mentioned:—
1st Quarter. Nil.
2nd Quarter. Duncombe Road Schools (Scarlet Fever).
3rd Quarter. Montem Street, L.C.C. Schools (Diphtheria).
Convent Schools, Eden Grove (Measles).
Douglas Road School (Measles).
Sebbon Street, L.C.C. Schools (Measles).
St. James' Schools, L.C.C. Schools (Diphtheria).
4th Quarter. Montem Street, L.C.C. Schools (Scarlet Fever).
Ecclesbourne Road, L.C.C. Schools (Scarlet Fever).
