THE INFECTIOUS DISEASES IN THE PUBLIC ELEMENTARY
SCHOOLS.
Nine hundred and seventy-six cases of the notifiable infectious diseases,
or 44.2 per cent. of all the cases notified under the Public Health (London)
Act, 1891; occurred among the scholars attending the Public Elementary
Schools of the borough, of which 708 were Scarlet Fever, 267 Diphtheria and
1 Enteric Fever.
These contrast with a ten years' average of 899 scholars and a percentage
of 44.1 of the total cases notified.

NON-NOTIFIABLE INFECTIOUS DISEASES AMONG THE
CHILDREN ATTENDING THE PUBLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.
Six thousand two hundred and eight cases of those Infectious Diseases,
which are not notifiable under the Public Health (London) Act, 1891, were
reported by the school teachers to the Medical Officer of Health, and of these
1,897 were Measles, 1,012 Chicken Pox, 724 Whooping Cough, and 2,575
various other diseases.
