DEATHS IN PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS.
Within the Borough. —2,288 persons died in the Public Institutions
located in Islington, of whom 1,606 belonged to this borough, the remaining
682 having come here for treatment or relief. Among the latter were 493
persons who died in the Holborn Infirmary, 84 in the Great Northern
Central Hospital, 12 in the Islington Infirmary, 12 in the Islington Workhouses,
15 in the London Fever Hospital, 5 in St. Pelagia's Creche, G in the
Memorial Cottage Hospital, and 6 in the Aged Blind Home.
Of the 1,606 deaths of inhabitants, 1,193 occurred in the Islington
Infirmary, 285 in the Islington Workhouses and Schools, and 98 in the Great
Northern Central Hospital. The proportion which the 1,606 deaths bore to
the borough mortality was 29.1 per cent.
Without the Borough.—872 deaths of persons belonging to Islington
were registered as occurring in Public Institutions of London located outside
the Borough. They included, among others, 42 in the North-Eastern
Fever Hospital, 56 in the Children's Hospital, Great Ormond Street, 96 in
St. Bartholomew's Hospital, 66 in the Colney Hatch Asylum, 60 in the Royal
Free Hospital, 31 in the University College Hospital, and 37 in Claybury
Asylum, and 41 in the North-Western Fever Hospital.
