Asylums and Metropolitan Imbecile Asylums, also 30
deaths of residents reported to me by the RegistrarGeneral
as having occurred in other parts of England,
and deducting 242 deaths of non-residents which
occurred, 162 at the West London Hospital, 26 at
Nazareth House, 25 at the Hammersmith Infirmary,
23 transferable deaths of non-residents which occurred
in this Borough and 6 deaths of soldiers, the corrected
number of deaths of residents registered last year
was 1,921. On the before-mentioned estimated civil
population, the corrected number of deaths of residents
registered last year was equal to an annual rate of 16.2
deaths per 1,000 persons living. The death rate in
London on the estimated civil population of London
up to the middle of the year was equal to an annual
rate of 16.8 deaths per 1,000 persons living.

to the other boroughs, is better than in the previous
year.

The corrected number of deaths of residents
under one year of age registered last year was 277,

deaths of infants under one year of age registered last
year was equal to 144 per 1,000 of the total corrected
deaths of residents registered, and to 102 per 1,000 of
the total corrected registered births. The number of
deaths of infants under one year of age, residents in
London last year, was equal to 157 per 1,000 of the total
deaths registered, and 112 per 1,000 of the total registered
births. The mortality rate of infants under one year of
