Annual Cleansing.—There were 1,254 houses on the Register in March of last year, all of
which required to be inspected in connection with the "annual cleansing" which the bylaws
provide shall be carried out during the month of April of each year. Although the
work was divided among five Inspectors, it was not completed until October. The
inspections made numbered 4,933, 1,920 rooms being reported to be in need of cleansing.
