In Table 36 are given the causes of death in the "Combined Insulæ" and the "Rest of the
Borough," and the ages at death. The mortality from each group of diseases (see below)
except" other diseases" was higher last year in the " Combined Insulæ" than in 1908, all
being higher than (most of them nearly double) the rates recorded last year in the "Rest of
the Borough." The rates (Table 36) for diarrhoea (14.86) and respiratory diseases (29.73) were
the two highest recorded in the insulæ last year, the former rate showing an increase of nearly
3per 1,000 above that for last year (ll.97) although the rate for the whole Borough decreased
from 14.26 to 8.90.
