VITAL AND MORTAL STATISTICS, 1911.
POPULATION.
The number of persons estimated to be living at the
middle of the year is 95,982. This estimate is a decrease of
19,953 upon the corresponding figure of last year. This
figure shows the wide discrepancy there was between the
Registrar General's estimate of the population and that
actually enumerated at the recent Census.
Up to the present time the complete Census reports have
not been received from the Registrar-General. We have only
been favoured with a total of the population enumerated in
the Borough at the recent Census for the purpose of the statistical
returns. Full details will be supplied later.
We, however, find from the figures supplied, instead of
the population increasing at the same rate during the
decennium 1901-1911 as it did during the decennium 18911901,
it has only increased by the small total of 207 souls.
We have to be thankful for this small intercensal increase of
population, as it removes this Borough from the large
category of London Boroughs which have to report an actual
decrease in population during the period.

The distribution of the population throughout the Borough is as follows:—
