declined a matter of four or five places. Some of this decline
is undoubtedly due to the excessive (number of deaths in
Greenwich from Diarrhoea during the hot summer months of
last year. But the larger portion of the decline is more
apparent than real, being occasioned by reason of the considerable
discrepancy which the recent Census has revealed
between our actual population and the estimations of the
same for the last few years.
Full particulars of all the Boroughs in this respect are
to be found in the table on pages 20 and 21.
The Infantile Mortality Rate for the Borough measured
by the number of deaths under one year to 1,000 births
registered was 129, an increase of 21 compared with last year;
the figure for London as a whole was 129, and the Borough
average during the last five years, 1906-10, inclusive, 110.
The Zymotic Death Rate of 2.47 per 1,000 is .27 per
1,000 above the County average, viz., 2.2 per 1,000, and is
1.09 per 1,000 above the corresponding figure for last year.
This increase in the Zymotic Death Rate is practically
all accounted for by the larger number of deaths from
Diarrhoea in Greenwich during this year. The average Death
Rate from this disease throughout the County of London
being 1.18 per 1,000, whereas the Death Rate from this
disease in Greenwich was 1.66 per 1,000.
