London as a whole was 116, and the Borough average during the
last five years, 1903-1907, inclusive, 123.
The Zymotic Death Rate of 1.16 per 1,000 is .19 per 1,000
below the County average, viz., 1.35 per 1,000, and is 0.23 per
1,000 below the corresponding figure for last year.

During the latter part of the year the Department has
sustained a great loss in the decease of Mr. Harland, who for
some 25 years past has discharged the duties of Public
Analyst to this Borough and district.
I think the fact that never since the Borough was formed has
his attendance at Police Court in a case of adulteration under the
Food and Drugs Acts been required either by the prosecution or
defence in connection with any of the certificates of analysis
