Report on the sanitary condition of the Hackney District for the year 1911

1,726 sheep and lambs, 227 oxen and 25 pigs, and found the
following organs diseased, and had them destroyed, viz.:—
3 ox livers affected with abscess.
9 ox livers affected with distomatosis.
6 ox livers affected with distomatosis.
8 sheep livers and lungs affected with parasitic cysts.
2 sheep livers affected with parasitic cysts.
On September 23rd the Public Health Committee made their
annual visit to the slaughter-houses of the Borough. These were
all found in a satisfactory condition.
The following statement refers to the milk places, cowsheds, slaughter-houses and offensive trades in the Borough :—

Preserved Provision Factories.—There were eight of these in the
Borough at the end of 1911. Inspector Bobbitt reports that he
made 58 visits of inspection to these premises during the year.
All the meat examined on these occasions was found to be sound
and free from disease.
Smoke Nuisances.—The Smoke Inspector made 777 observations
of chimneys of factories, workshops and other places in
the Borough during the year. These observations lasted from
half an hour upwards. Intimation notices in connection with
this nuisance were served to the number of 49.
