Gbove Buildings.
The Buildings were fully occupied throughout the year, Thirty-three
tenants voluntarily terminated their tenancies, and one was given notice
to quit.
Ten births (7 boys and 3 girls) were registered during the year, and
4 deaths. The deaths were:—Male, 67 years, cerebral apoplexy;
Female, 57 years, mitral heart disease; Male, 20 months, measles, pneumonia
; Female, 1 day, fracture of skull at birth.
One case of scarlet fever and one case of diphtheria were notified in
the Buildings during the course of the year.

The following Table shows the population (Census, 1911) of the Council's Dwellings, including the resident staff and their families:—

The Sutton Model Dwellings.
These Dwellings are now (January, 1913) approaching completion.
They are sited on an area of about 3¼ acres, bounded by College-street,
Marlborough-street, Leader-street and Cale-street. Fourteen blocks will
be erected, each 5 storeys in height, without basements, containing in all
683 tenements, and 53 lock-up shops with basements. The total number
of rooms is 1,468, and the population of the Dwellings, at 1½ persons per
room, will be about 2,200. There will be 115 one-room tenements, and
the remainder will be two and three-room tenements. The tenements are
to be all " self-contained," with a bath in each scullery, and w.c. on an
open balcony.
Lewis Trust Buildings.
A site has been acquired during the past year for the erection of
i artizans' dwellings by the Sam Lewis Trust. This site, which is roughly
, a parallelogram, faces upon Pond-place, Leader-street, and College-street.
I am informed by Messrs. Joseph and Smithem, the architects, that 9
parallel blocks will be erected on the site, with ends pointing to LeaderI
street. The blocks will be 5 storeys high, without basements, and
(separated by courtyards 40 ft. in width. The tenements will be of the
"self-contained" type, with open balcony, w.c., drying space, scullery
and bathroom combined. The kitchen range will be in the scullery, and
there will be a combination fireplace for the kitchen and living-room, with
a sliding fireclay shutter. A gas cooker will be fixed also in the scullery.
There will be 5 four-room tenements.

'IThere will, therefore, be 925 rooms in the Dwellings, which, at 1½ persons
