(a) Accidents to Workmen—Insurance against Liability.
During the past year twenty six accidents of various
descriptions have occurred to workmen, being mainly of a
minor character.

The increase in the amount of premium paid last year is
due to the Insurance rates having been increased from 6/- to
8/6 per cent, in the case of the men in the general department,
and from 8/6 to 20/- per cent, in the case of those in the
electricity department.
(J) Sale of Land at- Depot.
The sum of ^"1,574 received from the sale, to the Metropolitan
District Railway Company, of a strip of land at the
Works Depot, adjoining the Railway, has, with the sanction of
the Court of Chancery, been applied, as to £1,174 towards the
discharge of the outstanding balance on the loan borrowed of
the London County Council on the 23rd May, 1902, for the
building of a river wall, etc., at Chancellor's Wharf, and as to
£"400 in discharge of the outstanding balance on the loan
borrowed of the London County Council's predecessors on 10th
October, 1879, for the purchase of land for the Works Depot.
(g) Precepts of Central Bodies and Guardians.
During the year precepts have been served upon the
Council by the undermentioned Authorities, requiring the
Council to raise the amounts shown:—
