Articles of Food Seized or Surrendered as Unfit for Food.—
During the year 1909 the following articles were seized by the
Inspectors or surrendered as being unfit for human food, viz.,
1 ton, 6 cwt., 2 qrs. fish; 7 cwt., 2 qr. meat; 2 tons, 1 cwt., 3 qrs.
fruit and vegetables; 2 qrs. tinned foods.
DAIRIES, COWSHEDS AND MILK SHOPS.
Cow-houses.—The number of licensed cow-keepers in the
borough is diminishing rapidly. In the year 1893 there were
45 keepers with 65 cow-sheds. At the end of 1909 there were
21 licensed cow-keepers in the Borough owning 28 cow-sheds.
Inspector Bobbitt reports 247 visits of inspection made to these
premises during the year, and three intimation notices served for
small repairs, which notices were duly complied with. On the
25th September the Public Health Committee made their annual
inspection of the cow-houses in the Borough. These were
found to be in a satisfactory condition with the exception of
two cow-houses where the yard paving was found to be defective.
The paving was repaired on the service of a notice.
