LONDON COUNTY COUNCIL (GENERAL POWERS)
ACT, 1908.
Part 11. Sanitary Provisions.
Sec. 5 (1). Gives power to Metropolitan Sanitary Authorities
to remove or refuse to enter on the Register of persons carrying on
the trade of cowkeepers, dairymen, or purveyors of milk, the name
of any person proposing to carry on the trade of a dairyman or
purveyor of milk upon premises which are, in the opinion of such
Sanitary Authority, unsuitable for the sale of milk therein.
Premises shall not be deemed unsuitable for the sale of milk
therein on any ground inconsistent with the provisions or requirements
of any Order or Regulation made under any enactment for the
time being in force and applicable to such premises.
(2). Allows an appeal by any person who thinks himself
aggrieved by any decision of a Sanitary Authority under the
provisions of this section to a Court of Summary Jurisdiction within
21 days of such decision, and the Court may make an Order on the
Sanitary Authority to enter upon or restore in the Register the
name of such person.
Sec. 6 (1). Gives power to Sanitary Authorities to appoint
suitable women as health visitors for the purpose of giving to
persons advice as to the proper nurture, care and management of
young children, and the promotion of cleanliness and discharging
such other duties as may be assigned to them.
(2). Provides that the Local Government Board may make
regulations as to the qualification, mode of appointment, duties,
salary and tenure of office of such health visitors, and no appointment
of a health visitor shall be made only in accordance with such
regulations.
(3). Provides that the London County Council may pay out of
the County Fund, and charge to the Exchequer Contribution
Account, sums towards the salaries of such health visitors not
exceeding one-half of the salary.
