The suspended matter consisted of finely divided earthy matter,
and there were also a few particles of duckweed floating on its
surface.
These results are indicative of a polluted river water in time of
of partial flood.

Total Solid Residue 21.5 grains per gallon.

Organic Ammonia .266 „ „
Oxygen required (4 hrs. at 70° F.) .436 „ ,,

The sample was fairly clear and possessed a very slight earthy
odour when slightly warmed, and when examined in a white basin
was a very light yellowish brown in tint.
A little duckweed was floating on the surface.
The organic matter is very high and indicates pollution, but
this may be due to the excessive rainfall and consequent flooded
condition of the river.
